2010: A New Year Resolutions Special
Posted on 02. Jan, 2010 by jusuchin85 in Random
Resolutions are meant to motivate / drive someone to achieve something in that year. Be it a weight loss, cutting down / stopping a bad habit, or even getting a better job. Another year has gone, another has arrived. 2009 promises so much for me, but it ended on a slightly sour note.
2009: The Year That Promises A Lot.
When 2009 arrive, I expected to get my blogging attics together and be consistent with it. I started well with the relaunch of version 2 of "Otakuism, Everyday" and another blog which hosts my vector artworks (incidentally named "Pens and Brushes"). I changed my approach to blogging with a more deliverable content to many readers but the lack of commitment from myself made me demotivated. Thus, both blogs went inactive for a few months.
Version 3 of "Otakuism, Everyday" was relaunched in July. This was when I decided to change my approach to blogging again; this time, I wanted to provide an episodic review on the series that I was watching while giving out opinions on other various topics. This was supposed to be done on a daily basis and to do would require a greater strength of stamina. Because of my lack of it (as well as the lack of ideas to do daily posts), the site went inactive again. Those were my cons on 2009.
2009: Looking At The Positives.
Although a tad disappointed, I realised that by looking through a problem, one can find some positives that can be extracted from it. I met more anibloggers than I never knew I could (met Seinime, Gargron, Otaku-Dan, natsuneko, kodomut and Argyle amongst many others) to complement the rest of my friends (Gordonator, Panther, xJAYMANx, Divine Fang, _hikky, persocom-san, and shin). All of them ended up being very helpful in both blogging, discussions and in a networking sense.
Another positive I garnered is how networking improves your blog. I remember guest-blogging on Gargron's "We Love Maids" blog (two posts: Underrated Anime — I Don’t Need That, I Have My K-ON! and Overrated Anime — Moeness Overload~!) and those have given hits on my blog. I'm not talking about the statistics but about the openness of discussions when these new visitors stumble in and started commenting on some of my posts. I remember the post on me bashing up the Haruhi: Endless Eight escapade gathered open discussions from all fronts (both in agreement and disagreement on the series). I began to understand why I should post more topics that is argumentative rather than descriptive, supportive and generic.
2010: I'm Looking Forward To It!
2010 has arrived and, as usual, resolutions are bound to appear on everyone's mind. My resolution for this year are not much but I hope to achieve them on a more positive note:
- Be more active in blogging while taking a seat back on intense blogging. That means, I'd rather be blogging about something than just laying low for a long time without a word.
- To reach a target of guest blogging on two other blogs ("We Love Maids" doesn't count; I'm already a guest blogger there).
- To know at least 10 more anibloggers as friends and networking.
Looking at the above list, it's not that hard. But as what they always say, action speaks louder than words. That's my aim; that's my goal.
Final Word.
If you have resolutions, many wishes that they'll come true. I would like to wish all visitors to "2 Cents On A Platter" a Happy New Year!

Good luck with your goals. I definitely think it’s better to do some small blogging than to be a lurker. You’ll lose all of your viewers.

Happy 2010!

@Gargron: Yeah, I’ve profited a lot from it. Thanks for allowing me to post there!
@mefloraine: Thanks, same to you too! Small blogging than being a lurker? I don’t get that part.
@UntoldHero: Ah, I think I was being hit by the Otakuism, Everyday name; that’s why I restart the blog three times! ^^
I think you can start a blog, but lay down your ideas on a piece of paper and find out what you can blog about. That way, you won’t lose your ideas at all. You don’t need to have the dough to buy figures; just write what’s in your mind. That’s always the best option.
But take your time, man. Just don’t end up like me. Good luck for 2010!

Eh, meaning it’s better to make some posts periodically than to let your blog die.

The naming of the blog appeals more about what the blogger would state to themselves than what the reader might think. I think that is why I chose the name for my blog “How can one forget their future?” instead of (insert jargon/Japanese slang word) “How can I get people to read this?” Having a very specific title can focus a blog but at the same time, if there not much to that material, it would die.
I have been ever since I got my blog up and running since October, by posting little posts instead of making really large ones that take a long time to write, I have brought back my readers a bit and increasing.
Good luck with your blog this time around and a Happier 2010!

@Cadha13: Short posts are good too. I was thinking of writing some short posts whenever something comes up; just something a little different than usual. Could be call an appetizer, if you wished to put it that way (which correlates with the blog name). ^^
@Netto: Haha, maybe you could use a calculator next time for the answer? ^^
Thanks. Same goes to you too! It would seem that your resolutions are the same as last year! ^^ Good luck on obtaining yours!

Happy new year to you as well ^^ I decided against doing any resolutions this time around to avoid possible disappointment. You have some very sound ones though, hopefully I can do the same in the networking and blogging more frequently aspects.

@Argyle: Thanks! Actually, I’ve already came up with a few more resolutions, but most of them are real-life related. The resolutions in this post are basically involving blogging in general; since I’m always off after quite some time. ^^
